Part Time Parish Secretary

 

The Church Secretary of Grace Church includes a wide variety of essential duties: 

welcoming visitors and answering phone calls; managing the office by managing mail and keeping church records and the church calendar; connecting the community by facilitating communication to and on behalf of the church, through our website, social media, print media, email, phone, and in-person. Provide administrative support to the Minister.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • The candidate should have a high school diploma.

  • 5 years + experience as an office administrator, office assistant or equivalent role.

  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher, Google Docs, Adobe, email marketing software, and database management. Experience with parish management software programs, (Servant Keeper) a plus.

  • Previous experience posting on social media platforms. The ability to learn and self-teach recent technologies, email databases and content creation and website software to update parish website.

  • Experience with office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and phone systems required

  • The employee must be proficient with spelling, grammar, punctuation, and document styles 

RESPONSIBILITES:

 

The candidate must harbor a great deal of compassion, sensitivity, patience, and a deep respect for confidentiality. Welcomes visitors, addresses questions, and assists them with any problems. Refers visitors and parishioners to minister or other administrators when necessary. 

 

Coordinate the use of the building by non-church organizations and individuals, such as wedding rentals, funeral services, and outside groups

 

Assists in writing, editing, printing, and distributing the weekly church bulletin. Prepare weekly bulletin and announcements for all services as needed. Prepare monthly church newsletter. Post pdf to website. Publish Annual Report yearly.

 

The job requires attention to detail, expertise in organizational skills, knowledge of general office procedures, and an ability to troubleshoot minor computer issues

Maintain database and office files

 

Interface with building maintenance contractors for a variety of services such as alarm upkeep, landscaping, plowing, plumbing and electrical. 

 

Assist in planning church events. Create, update, and help distribute church event calendar.

 

Position is Part -Time, 4 days a week, M-Th, 9am – 12:00 pm, 2 weeks paid vacation. 

Wages $20/hour.
